WHAT IS AN INFIDEL?

Snopes verified this information to be true. The story below was taken directly from the Snopes web page as follows: The piece quoted below entitled “Allah or Jesus” is an editorial penned by Rick Mathes, Executive Director of the Mission Gate Prison Ministry.  It is a true story and the author, Rick Mathes, is a well-known leader in a prison ministry.  They asked Mr. Mathes if he could provide information about the origins of the story, and he responded with this statement: This article is an exact recording of a real event that I participated in. My only commentary was, “The truth will prevail.”  I think this meeting was in May 2003 and I will not give out more details for fear of retribution. The purpose of the class was to increase “religious sensitivity," that is, tolerance for each others beliefs.
What is an infidel: Allah versus Jesus, By Rick Mathes
The man who walks with God always gets to his destination. If you have a pulse you have a purpose, believes Mathes. The Muslim religion is the fastest growing religion per capita in the United States, especially in the minority races!  Last month, I attended my annual training session that's required for maintaining my state prison security clearance. During the training session there was a presentation by three speakers representing the Roman Catholic, Protestant, and Muslim faiths, who each explained their beliefs. I was particularly interested in what the Islamic had to say. The Muslim gave a great presentation of the basics of Islam, complete with a video.
After the presentations, time was provided for questions and answers. When it was my turn, I directed my question to the Muslim and asked, ‘Please, correct me if I'm wrong, but I understand that most Imams and Clerics of Islam have declared a holy jihad [Holy war] against the infidels of the world and, that by killing an infidel, (which is a command to all Muslims) they are assured of a place in heaven. If that's the case, can you give me the definition of an infidel?’
There was no disagreement with my statements and, without hesitation, he replied, 'Nonbelievers!' I responded, 'So, let me make sure I have this straight. All followers of Allah have been commanded to kill everyone who is not of your faith, so they can have a place in heaven. Is that correct?' The expression on his face changed from one of authority and command to that of a little boy who had just been caught with his hand in the cookie jar.'  He sheepishly replied, 'Yes.'  I then stated, 'Well, sir, I have a real problem trying to imagine the Pope commanding all Catholics to kill those of your faith, or Dr. Stanley ordering all Protestants to do the same in order to guarantee them a place in heaven!'
The Muslim was speechless! I continued, 'I also have a problem with being your friend when you and your brother clerics are telling your followers to kill me! Let me ask you a question. Would you rather have your Allah, who tells you to kill me in order for you to go to heaven, or my Jesus who tells me to love you because I am going to heaven and He Wants you to be there with me?'
You could have heard a pin drop as the Imam hung his head in shame. Needless to say, the organizers and/or promoters of the 'Diversification' training seminar were not happy with my way of dealing with the Islamic Imam, and exposing the truth about the Muslims' beliefs.
In twenty years there will be enough Muslim voters in the U.S. to elect the President! I think everyone in the U.S. should be required to read this, but with the ACLU, there is no way this will be widely publicized, unless everyone shares this story.  (The end of Mr. Mathes’ comments)
I added this story to my blog to inform and not to discriminate, for I have friends who are of the Muslim faith and they are not terrorist by any stretch of the imagination. However, there is a movement that is dangerous and it is perpetually seeking to destroy others. This reign of terror is witnessed daily in the middle east and we experienced the impact of its power when it crept into our boundaries on 9/11.  I know that evil continually perpetuates when people turn their heads in ignorance.

Below are two examples of how American’s are losing their equal rights while other religions and people, who are not from this county, are getting preferential treatment.
Student quits choir when forced to sing Muslim song. February 16, 2012, a Colorado high school student quit the school choir after an Islamic song containing the lyric "there is no other truth except Allah" found its way into the chorus (in preparation for a school program). James Harper, a senior at Grand Junction High School in Grand Junction, Colorado objected to singing "Zikr," a song written by Indian composer A. R. Rahman, in an email to Mesa County School District 51 officials. James objected to singing the religious song because of the words referred to the Muslim god as being the almighty supreme being.  Harper said that Christians are forbidden to sing songs about Jesus Christ, yet somehow its okay to sing about the Muslim god.  School official refused to back down and Harper withdrew from the choir.
Muslim Prayer Rooms at the expense of American Taxpayers. Some public schools and universities are granting Muslim requests for prayer times, prayer rooms and ritual foot baths, prompting a debate on whether Islam is being given preferential treatment over other religions. The University of Michigan at Dearborn is planning to build foot baths for Muslim students who wash their feet before prayer. An elementary school in San Diego created an extra recess period for Muslim pupils to pray. At George Mason University in Fairfax, Va., Muslim students using a "meditation space" laid out Muslim prayer rugs and separated men and women in accordance with their Islamic beliefs. Critics see a double standard and an organized attempt to push public conformance with Islamic law, in addition to insult, these rooms and privileges are at the expense of our tax dollars. Linda Sumner Urza, One fine day.

TRUE LOVE

Love is a powerful virtue and it has transcended throughout the ages in beautiful music, art and literature. There are many kinds of love: true love, divine love, unconditional love, love of self, pure love, genuine love, tough love, love sick, love notes, love songs, love poems, love stories, love letters... the list is endless.
Love is mentioned in the Bible 341 times: love thy God with all thy heart, love thy self, love thy neighbor and love one another are just some of the requirements of love. It’s the only thing that will heal human evil, according to M. Scott Peck, who wrote the book, Road Less Traveled and the only virtue that possesses the power to create peace on earth.
One of my favorite love stories was shared with me over thirty years ago by a Polynesian man who spoke at a fireside in my church. He was a tall handsome man with a kind demeanor and as he quietly spoke, a hush fell over the congregation.
He began by sharing a story about a man and woman who understood the true meaning of love. This couple had been blessed with five children and they devoted all their time and energy to their tightly knit family. The mother had a younger sister who had been married for six years, in what would seem to be a perfect marriage, but often brought tears of frustrations - for they were told they would never be able to have children of their own.
Out of divine love, the older sister and her husband made a decision that would change the younger couple's lives forever. They gave birth to a sixth child and then placed this precious gift into the empty arms of the younger sister.
He concluded his talk with these closing remarks. “I truly understand love.” He said.  “For I was the child who was given away in a selfless act of deep and abiding love. Every day of my life has been blessed from the genuine sacrifices of true love. I also testify that love increases in value a hundred fold, but only when it's given away.”  Written by Linda Sumner Urza, One fine day.

A MAN OF LIBERTY

His mother died when he was young.
He failed in business.
Ran for state legislature and lost.
Lost his job and wanted to go to law school, but he couldn’t get in.
He borrowed money to begin a business, by the end of the year he was bankrupt.

He spent the next 17 years completely repaying that debt.
Ran for state legislature and won.
He suffered from melancholy despair.
He was engaged to be married to the love of his life, but she died.
He had a total nervous breakdown and was in bed for six months.
Ran for speaker of the state legislature and lost.
Tried to become an elector, but was defeated.
Ran for Congress and lost.
Ran for Congress again, and won. He went to Washington and did a great job.
Ran for reelection and lost.
Tried to become land officer in his home state and was rejected.
Ran for Senate of the United States and lost.
Sought the vice-presidential nomination and got less than 100 votes.
Four years later he was elected president of the United States.
Abraham Lincoln was born February 12,1809 and became the 16th president of the United States. He knew failure far more than he ever knew success, yet he is not remembered for his failures. Lincoln is a respected figure in American history and known as an outstanding political leader and patriot. The process that he went through and the opposition he had to overcome, made him the person that America needed during what was probably the most difficult point in the history of our nation.
Despite his many failures and disappointments, he became immortalized. I believe Lincoln himself would be astonished at the impact his life has had throughout history.

Today, this country is facing difficult times. Billions of tax dollars leave our homeland in support of other countries, while millions of Americans are homeless and suffering. The soldiers who pledge their lives to protect and defend the people of our country, are being sent to fight wars in foreign lands. Our national defense is at an all time low and our current president wants to cut back even farther. Our boarders are weak, we are in debt trillions of dollars to China, and our economy is failing - with no relief in sight!
The 2012 elections are approaching. Please use wisdom to vote for the candidates that will best represent the American people. We deserve a government that acts responsibly and in the best interest of the people.

Lincoln’s immortal words echo through the ages, almost as if he could see the fate of our lives today. “Any people anywhere, being inclined and having the power, have the right to rise up, and shake off the existing government, and form a new one that suits them better. This is a most valuable, a most sacred right, a right, which we hope and believe is to liberate the world.” Abraham Lincoln
“I believe that government becomes an enemy to the people, when it stops working for the best interest of its people.”  Happy birthday today, Abraham! By Linda Sumner Urza, One fine day.

HAPPINESS IS AN INSIDE JOB

“A crust eaten in peace is better than a banquet partaken in anxiety.” Aesop

Recently, I had lunch with a friend that I hadn’t seen for a while. During our visit she expressed that life had dealt her a dreadful hand, then she proceeded to tell me that she would trade places with me any day. I was taken aback by her comment and even more shocked that I had managed to make life look so easy. I assured her that I was not exempt from the trials in life, but my desire was to endure them well.
I believe strength of character is developed during the uphill battles and not the downhill slide, and I have found that peace can exist in the middle of the storm, with a willing heart and contrite spirt.

Patience, love, forgiveness, kindness, compassion, endurance, courage, wisdom, fortitude, and perseverance are just a few of the attributes that are attained through opposition. These treasured virtues define the moral qualities and integrity of a human being.
Then she confessed that her personal trials had made her life miserable and that she was very unhappy. I told her that I believed happiness was a choice, not an entitlement and that no one was responsible for her happiness, except herself. “If you’re miserable, it’s because you’ve chosen misery over power, for everyone has been given the power to overcome opposition."  She concluded that it was easy for me to say because I didn’t have any trials! Well, I set the record straight!

In 2011, I lost my sister right after the first of the year and shortly thereafter my grandson died unexpectedly. A few months later my best friend (of 40 years) passed away in her hospital bed during a routine procedure. It’s always devastating to lose someone you love and I had lost three loved ones in a nine month period.
In April, I torn the meniscus in my right knee and three weeks later developed a blood clot. The clot fragmented, sending two small clots through my heart and logging in my right lung. The good news, I lived to tell about it.  Then in July, I was walking through a parking lot when a car backed out of the parking space and ran over me. I was dragged underneath the carriage of the car for several feet before the driver realized something was wrong.

Often life is not fair and there are many challenges to overcome, but I don't allow circumstances to control my life. I realized long ago that happiness doesn’t come as a result of what we wish we had, rather it comes from recognizing and appreciating what we do have
Happiness is an inside job!  It begins within and manifests itself outwardly. Happy people statistically live nine years longer than less happy people and report 30% less illness. They have healthier relationships and more money. They are more present, resilient, reliable, and creative than those who are less happy. I have learned that faith, love, and kindness ( in that order) are the keys to true happiness.
"When we feel love and kindness toward others, it not only makes others feel loved and cared for, but it helps us also to develop inner happiness and peace.” The Dalai Lama
